Alex Lage - Screenwriter & Film Director

I’m not a sentimentalist, I invite the audience to observe, sometimes witness, truth and reason through modern gothic fiction.

I was born in Brazil, and entered the entertainment world as a musician. Beginning at a young age in my musical studies, I sang and conduct Baptist church choirs, Youth Groups, and evangelical rock bands. At age 21, I decided to move on to the world of advertising. This led to the creation, production, and direction of numerous TV commercials for well-known Brazilian advertising companies. But my independent side led me to mount a successful installation titled “The Image Creation”, at Palacio Das Artes Center for the Performing Arts. The experience inspired me to branch out into the production of narrative movies and documentaries and music videos. I founded my first film & Video production company, Draft Films, producing videos and documentaries with dance companies. In 1998, I moved to the United States and began studying , Entertainment Marketing, Film Directing and Art Direction at Baruch College, NYU Tisch School of the Arts, and FVA School of Arts, respectively. in 2004, in NYC, I founded Ringo Films, and since then, after numerous productions, we are now focused on keeping building stories through narrative shorts and feature films.

The time I spent with Alex is priceless. An insanely talented director who is passionate about his work. Alex showed me what a talented actress I am. We studied all facets of my character so that I could show it in my acting. It's a pleasure to shoot a monologue with him, we shot Sonya's monologue from Anton Chekhov's Uncle Vanya and I saw myself in a completely new role. After working with him, I became a confident actress who knows where she is going next.
